Synchronized skating is a team sport where members skate to a program which includes a variety of patterns and formations in unison to music. It is an exciting and beautiful sport to watch and a great way to keep fit, make friends and develop fantastic skating skills.
There are divisions for all ages and levels of ability including Aussie Skate, Novice, Junior, Senior, Adult and Open. Team size and elements skated to music are largely determined by the division a team competes within.
Our MISC Junior team, the Macquarie Illusions represented Australia in Prague earlier this year. Currently we have three teams (Dominoes, INSYNC and the Starlets) that skate at Macquarie Ice Rink and represent Macquarie Ice Skating Club.
DOMINOES
One of Australia's original synchronized skating teams - skating in the Adult Division. Their ages vary from thirty years of age upwards and the team practices on Sunday nights. In 2009, the Dominoes were awarded silver medals at State and National Champsionships. This year, they have already won the gold medal at the State Championships and will aim to compete later in 2010 at the National Championships.

INSYNC
Insync formed this year and are our newest team. Team members are aged between approximately 12-28 years of age and skate in the Open Division. INSYNC are an experienced group of skaters who work very hard to improve and develop their skating abilities, whilst also enjoying a friendly team atmosphere. They meet every Tuesday night with on-ice as well as off-ice practice. Their goals were to 1) grow and strengthen as a team and 2) compete at the State and National Championships. They have made a good start towards achieving these goals with their recent gold medal skate at the State Championships.

THE STARLETS
A team of talented up-and-coming skaters who meet once a week on Wednesday evenings. The girls are aged between 8 and 10 and skate at the Aussie Skate level. The goals for the team are to 1) improve and strengthen their skating skills 2) learn how to work as a team and 3) to have FUN! We are looking forward to competing in future competitions!
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SYNCHRO TEAMS FOR THEIR BRILLIANT RESULTS AT THE 2010 AUSTRALIAN FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS!
Both our teams placed 2nd in their event! The Dominoes came 2nd in the Adult Division and Insync came 2nd in the Open Division. What a great effort - we're very proud of all concerned!
